Guest Viewpoint in Press & Sun-Bulletin highlights the contributions of Catholic Schools in our region: Broome’s Catholic schools provide solid education
The United States celebrates Catholic Schools Week January 25 – 31recognizing the 7,000 Catholic schools that span our nation educating over 2.1 million students. In Broome, there are four schools educating nearly 1,000 students Pre K – 12. They reflect the theme of this year’s celebration “Communities of Faith, Knowledge and Service”. A number of events will be taking place to celebrate Catholic Schools Week. See attached release.
Seton Catholic Central, a grades 7-12 campus, will be hosting a visitation for grade six students on Tuesday, January 13 from 9:15 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Sixth grade students from Broome County’s three Catholic elementary schools; St. James, St. John’s and All Saints and St. Patrick’s School in Tioga County will be participating. Grade six students in the region’s public schools who are interested in attending Seton Catholic Central are also invited to attend. Interested public school families can contact Richard Bucci, Principal or Colleen Curtin, Grade 7 Counselor at 723-5307.
“The intent of the visitation is to provide prospective Grade 7 students with an overview of the academic, spiritual, athletic and extracurricular life of the school,” said Bucci.
The morning’s activities will include a tour of the school, classroom demonstrations, student performances and meetings with grade 7 teachers.
